Marquis Amonte King (born Dec 12, 1992),[2] better known by his stage name Shy Glizzy, is an American rapper from Southeast, Washington, D.C.[3] Released "Don't feed the sharks" September 1st 2021

Groundwork [edit]

Shy Glizzy was built-in Marquis Amonte Rex on Dec 12, 1992, at Greater Southeast Community Hospital and grew up on 37th St., well-nigh Fort Dupont Park, in Southeast Washington, D.C.[2] His father was shot and killed at nineteen years old ,[4] before Shy's outset birthday. He grew up in a household with his female parent, grandmother, and his younger brother, three Glizzy. At age 9, he was arrested for petty larceny.[2] At historic period xvi, he was arrested for a robbery and spent 14 months in juvenile detention,[5] where he also earned his GED.[iv]

In 2011, Shy Glizzy released his debut project, titled No Brainer, in January. He released his 2d mixtape, Streets Hottest Youngin, on October 31.[8]

On June 6, 2012, Shy released his third mixtape titled Law. He was also featured by Complex on its list of "10 New DMV Rappers To Scout Out For."[9] The Washington City Paper 's Ramon Ramirez referred to it as "a well-connected record [which] sometimes feels like it wants to be a major-characterization-debut", featuring guest appearances from Project Pat and Wale and production from Crush Billionaire, but described Shy as existence "less polished, and more than frenetic, while his hooks are repetitive and droning but too hungry and catchy."[4]

On November 14, 2012, Shy released his fourth mixtape, Fly Money, an xi-track collaborative projection with Jose Guapo. On December 12, he released his fifth mixtape, Fxck Rap, featuring a guest advent from Trinidad James and product from Speaker Knockerz.[10]

On January vii, 2014, Shy Glizzy was listed by Fact as one of "10 Rappers to Watch in 2014".[14] On January 20, he announced his seventh mixtape, Young Jefe, which went on to be released on February 17, and included guest appearances from the likes of Young Scooter, PeeWee Longway, Young Thug, Plies and Gudda Gudda.[15] From that mixtape, the hit single "Awwsome" turned into the biggest song of his career and peaked at number 45 on the United states of america Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs nautical chart.[xvi] It spawned a remix off the record that features A$AP Rocky and ii Chainz that grabbed more than 750,000 streams on SoundCloud in the beginning week of its release.[17]

On June 3, 2015, Shy Glizzy was selected as part of the XXL mag Freshman Grade listing.[eighteen] That same twenty-four hour period he released his ninth mixtape, Be Conscientious, a xvi-runway collaborative project with his Glizzy Gang collective which included members 30 Glizzy, Goo Glizzy and 3 Glizzy.[19] On Baronial 28, Shy announced his 10th mixtape, For Trappers Simply, entirely produced by Zaytoven to be released on September xxx.[20] It included guest appearances from the likes of Boosie Badazz, Yo Gotti and Ty Dolla $ign.

On July 8, 2016, Shy Glizzy appear his 11th mixtape, Young Jefe 2, to exist released on July 15.[21]

In a December 2014 interview with The Fader, when asked well-nigh his thoughts on "DMV rap", Shy responded "DMV still didn't get a affair. In 2018, Shy Glizzy released his debut studio anthology, Fully Loaded, on October 18, which included guest appearances from YoungBoy Never Bankrupt Again, Lil Uzi Vert, Young Thug, Gunna, and Rick Ross.[30] The album received positive reviews[31] [32] and peaked at number 35 on the The states Billboard 200, selling 14,446 album-equivalent units in the first week.[33] It was announced that Glizzy volition embark on nationwide tour with Atlanta rapper Gunna on his Drip or Drown two tour.

In an Apr interview with HipHopDX's Daniela Evgenivna, Glizzy appear he would exist releasing his second studio album titled Covered 'North Blood on Apr 19.[34] He described the album equally existence more personal than the feature packed Fully Loaded stating "It's a actually deep album.
